I'm going through a bit of a blog revival. It's winter 2014/2015 and you local trails are beginning to get covered with packed ice and snow. What to do? Well, might I suggest ski mountaineer racing... but shy of that, if you simply must continue to climb mountains and run trails here is a video I did for Mountain magazine on making your favorite shoes all-terrain by outfitting them with some sheet metal screws. It's way easier than you think and only takes about three minutes.

My latest piece for Outside magazine.
Just over a decade of research went into this piece. These are the best-of-the-best ultra-distance adventure runs in the USA. I've run them all except the Four Pass Loop (which I now live the closest to). I even include the FKT times, and when I write "two of ultrarunning's hardmen," I'm talking about you Karl Meltzer and Jared Campbell. Thank you for reviving the Zion Traverse.

My sponsors Mountain Hardwear and Montrail put this running video together — The Running Connection. It says a lot in just a few minutes. I'm just happy to be involved with such inspired athletes and artists. A few days running in and around Telluride, Colorado—with Dakota Jones, Ellie Greenwood, and Sean Meisner—and photographer David Clifford was able to capture the essence of why we run ultramarathons. Let me know what you think...
