yesterday young money had a wild hair to summit king solomon via a bushwhacky gully, then continue out the ridge to little giant pass. little giant is first major climb on this years hardrock 100 course (it changes direction each year). i'm not one to shy away from off trail travel. plus the trails above silverton are still pretty much buried in snow so our options are limited for getting up high. other than his "booty shorts" dakota seems to be completely in his element climbing these gnarly mountains. to run here there seems to be a requisite amount of scree we have to contend with daily. ... and the scree god's take a sacrafice of skin for passing through, now i understand why karl wears those silly gloves. we were also both lovin our black diamond ultra distance z poles (thanks rocho!). anyway, i threw a quick vid together to a song i dig on... enjoy.

zion is an amazing place to run. in my opinion the crown jewel is the zion traverse. it's a 50 mile route across the entire park. it's stunning. because of it's diversity i even think it trumps the venerable grand canyon rim to rim to rim run. as i recall it took us 12hrs total time with about 10hrs of run time to cross the park... and i got some great video, check it.

day 3 of the zion vitamin d camp we ran the entire 50 mile zion traverse across the whole national park (i'm working on the video now). my sponsor ultraspire, who make the best ultrarunning packs and handhelds is located in st george. their fantastic photog jim speth was nice enough to meet us at mile 35 to resupply us with water and some snacks. he also setup a camera and some lights for an impromptu photo shoot. here are the shots...

day 1 of my zion vitamin d ultrarunning camp we ran just outside of slc. after a 5hr drive to zion and a good nights sleep i figured i had to show the fellas the classic zion hikes. we ran angel's landing, then up and out to cable mountain and back past observation point. luke kept the uphill pace brisk, b. hugs kept the banter borderline offensive... awesome day.
