Pony Express Food Blog

i like food. on sept 15th karl meltzer started running from sacromento, ca to st. louis, mo on the old pony express trail. it's 2,200 "ish" miles and karl has averaged 52 miles a day for the first 16 days. just 29 days left. i was a crew person for the first 16 days and i took some shots of the food we ate on the road.

Love it. When feet meet a long, long road, nutrition more or less goes to hell. The bacon, burgers and fries are great additions.

Any word on how much Karl's weight/body composition has changed in the last few weeks?

So I'd love you to write a blog piece in addition to the photo ones. I want to know, does it work for someone running that many miles a day to eat so much junk? Is there any concern about nutrition/whole foods/etc, or is it really just a matter of trying to get him enough calories to maintain his weight?
And for you crew people, how hard is it to eat healthy on the road while supporting an athlete?
